Buenos Aires has many public telephone booths. Public phones operate with 5, 10, 25, 50 cents and 1 Peso coins. Phone cards may be bought at any kiosk (sweet and tobacco stall). These phones support urban, national and international calls.
Spread everywhere you will find communication centers (called “locutorios” or “telecentros”), offering cheap telephone, fax and internet services.
Calling Buenos Aires
The international country code for Argentina is 54 and the city code for Buenos Aires is 11. Always dial 00 to establish an international connection (or 011 in U.S.), followed by the country code and the city code.
The procedure to dial is the following :

Calling from Buenos Aires
When a traveler wants to make a phone call from Argentina, the procedure to dial is the following :

For instance, if you want to call the Argentine Embassy in Washington, DC, at (202) 238-6400, you should dial :
00 + 1 + 202 + 238-6400
00 + US country code + area code + number
Calling Cell Phones
When making calls to cell phones within Argentina, you must add (15) to the number; e.g. (15) 6422-5555. However, when initiating the call abroad you need to dial (9) after the country code 54; for instance :
011 + 54 + 9 + 11 + 6422-5555 (from U.S.)
00 + 54 + 9 + 11 + 6422-5555 (from most other countries with international access code 00)
